Like it or not, we are part of the Pokémon Go world
"Boon Sheridan spent his Friday night the way most people across the country did: (...) trying to catch Pokémon. (...) The next morning, Sheridan woke up to a handful of strangers standing in front of his house in Holyoke, Mass. A car drove up to the curb, then sat idle. It took a few minutes to sink in. Then he ran to his phone. "Holy crap, my house is a gym," he said, spotting a Pokémon training center on top of his house, which used to be a church. "Well, this is weird. (...) Sheridan is among a growing number of homeowners, business managers and religious leaders across the country learning they're a lot more connected to the Pokémon Go phenomenon than they thought —and they don't have much of a say in the matter."

Pokémon Go Is Pushing Gaming Into the Outside World—and All the Dangers in It
"To call Pokémon Go popular is something of an understatement. It’s currently the most popular app in Apple’s app store, and on Android it’s about to surpass Twitter in active daily users. Its success has sent Nintendo’s market value soaring. Players report throngs of people congregating at Pokémon Go hotspots in cities, waving their smartphones to capture imaginary monsters as puzzled onlookers pass by. (...) a 40-year-old white man shared a story on Reddit about finding an unexpected camaderie with two young black men when they realized they were all out searching for Pokémon in the middle of the night. They started sharing tips about the game—only to be interrupted by a cop who suspected the black men were selling drugs."

Pokémon Go Could Be A Death Sentence For A Black Man
"When my brain started combining the complexity of being Black in America with the real world proposal of wandering and exploration that is designed into the gamplay of Pokémon Go, there was only one conclusion. I might die if I keep playing."

Overwhelming response to Pokémon Go events forces cancellation
"Thousands of people in Sacramento have hit the streets looking for Pokémon. Rick Mears wanted to share the Pokémon Go experience with his friends, so he created an event on Facebook. “It has a really cool social experience with it and it has you go out and go places and connect with friends,” Mears said. But that event quickly became a big hit on social media. “It was almost a thousand people an hour,” Mears said. “It just kept growing and growing. When more than 6,000 people expressed interest in the event, Mears pumped the brakes"

Game Makers Everywhere Salivate Over Pokemon Go Phenomenon
"Game developers around the world watched in astonishment as Pokemon Go, a mobile version of the beloved 1990s game from Nintendo Co., became an instant hit -- rocketing to the most downloaded app on both Apple and Android phones."

Nintendo shares skyrocket by 24% thanks to Pokémon Go
"Nintendo shares in Japan have surged after Pokémon Go launched in select markets. The game has turned out to be an immediate success for the company and it's hoped it will boost Nintendo's mobile business. As reported by CNBC, stock for Nintendo closed on Monday up by 24.52% at 20,260 ($199.70) per share. (...) the company is currently enjoying the $7.5 billion that's been added to its market value."

Pokémon Go may be the greatest unintentional health fad ever
"Since launching last week, the augmented reality app has exploded in popularity. (...) the app has already become so popular that it’s rivaling Twitter in terms of the volume of daily active users, (...) But there’s another interesting outcome of the game’s rise that its makers likely didn’t anticipate: It seems to be getting people moving. (...) Unlike most games, which engage only your thumbs, Pokémon Go requires you to walk, run, and even jump — all great forms of exercise. Gizmodo noted that this may even be driving a "pandemic" of sore legs, since so many users have complained about pain from their Pokémon "workouts."

Pokémon Go Players Are Waging War Over The White House
"For the last week, Pokémon Go players have been taking part in a secret battle to gain control of the most visible and coveted gym in the entire country: the White House itself."

Auf meinem New 3DS läufts bisher ohne Probleme.

"Pokémon has never felt more alive to me than it does in Sun, and while I did have high expectations coming in, I can't say I saw that coming. This series is catching up with our imaginations." (Destructoid)

"For the first time in ages (...), “Pokémon” feels like a new, exciting experience. If you’re a fan of the series, you’re going to love “Sun” and “Moon,” and if you’ve been gone for a while, you’ll be happy to come home." (Yahoo)

"Sun and Moon are the biggest changes that the core Pokemon series has ever attempted. Removing gyms, Hidden Machines (HMs), and altering original Pocket Monsters was a huge gamble – and all of it has paid off. (...) The end result of this undertaking is a pair of lovingly-crafted, must-haves for fans new and old. Truly, this is the celebration of Pokemon that gamers have been waiting for." (Game Rant)

"There are so many beautiful touches to the game, and it’s so different to what’s come before, that it will keep blowing you away, surprising you, and delighting you." (Telegraph)

"In Pokémon Sun and Moon, that wistful reverie invites you take a holiday, leave your worries behind, and grab yourself a lei. As it happens with all good vacations, Pokémon found itself again." (Kotaku)
